It may be cold and dark, but Hobart sure knows how to put on a bright, warm welcome during Dark Mofo! Walk, drive or sail around to see the city all dressed up in fiery red lights and decorations. There are loads of businesses and towns getting into the spirit this year, providing beacons of light for locals and visitors venturing through the murky depths of Dark Mofo. Here is our guide to Paint the Town Red – and don’t forget your camera, there are prizes up for grabs!

Hobart and Surrounds:
Stroll around the Hobart waterfront and through the city and check out: the Brooke Street Pier, the Grand Chancellor, Salamanca Inn, The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, RACV/RACT Hobart Apartment Hotel, Travelodge, Hadley’s Orient Hotel, Nolan Gallery, Post Street Social, Shipwrights Arms, and Narryna Heritage Musuem. Don’t miss Tours Tasmania, Drunken Admiral, Salamanca Wharf Cafe, Casamonde, Myer, Tony Weidenbach & Associates Dental Surgery, and Coogans. In Centrepoint, South Terrace Hair & Beauty, Primadonna, A Bit Curious, Capri Body, Noni B and The Hobart Stocking Shop have gone red.

Get up close and personal with the red Tasman Bridge with Hobart Yachts, Cruise Tasmania, and Travel with a Cause on Board the Odalisque. Also, don’t be afraid to venture to Cascade Brewery, Wrest Point Casino, Claremont House, Discover Holiday Parks, Hobart Airport and Avis Hobart Airport. The Airport looks particularly cool with its neon “Welcome to Art” sign!

The Odalisque is red all over for the Travel With A Cause cocktail parties throughout Dark Mofo.

The Derwent Valley
Red fever is spreading up the Derwent Valley. New Norfolk is enthusiastically embracing visitors lured in for Asylum (Entry by Mirror Only), with many buildings lit up red. Be sure to check out Woodbridge on the Derwent, Saints & Sinners B&B / Cafe, Subway and Caltex New Norfolk. If you continue on your Derwent Valley journey, don’t miss Stanton B&B in Magra, Waterfalls Cafe at Mt Field, Platypus Playground Riverside Cottage at Westerway and the amazing Pumphouse Point at Derwent Bridge.
