The entries this year captured autumn across Southern Tasmania in all its colour and character.
This year’s judging panel included Allanah Dopson from Handmark Gallery along with Destination Southern Tasmania staff. Honestly, the quality this year was exceptional. There were so many images that stopped us in our tracks, and narrowing it down was no easy job. A massive thank you to everyone who got out there with a camera, and shared their corner of Southern Tasmania with us through #AutumnTasmania26.
Thank you to our major prize provider The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart
After plenty of discussion from the judging panel, congratulations to Andrew Warner, whose stunning image taken near Clyde Mill Distillery in Bothwell has been selected as the overall winner for 2026.
Andrew has won a night’s accommodation at The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, including breakfast for two.
Gary Sowter’s image, taken at the Ladies Cottage in New Norfolk, has a beautiful storybook quality to it. Quiet, contemplative and full of autumn vibes, it feels like one of those gentle Tasmanian afternoons where time drifts by a little softer.
The soft light and relaxed atmosphere made this one an easy favourite with the judges.
Katy, who regularly features on Hobart and Beyond with her stunning iPhone photography, has picked up a double Highly Commended in our 2026 competition.
Her two images capture very different sides of autumn in Southern Tasmania, from the quiet early morning streets of Salamanca to a colour-filled laneway in the Derwent Valley. Two very different scenes, both beautifully observed.
Putu’s slightly misty autumn view across the Huon Valley was a favourite with both our judges and social media followers. A beautiful crisp morning in Southern Tasmania, with the valley slowly waking beneath the mist.
Chelsea’s image is not what it first seems. It takes a second, maybe even a third look, for your brain to register what’s happening… a falling leaf, a reflection in the pond, a swimming fish. Not everything is as it first seems. Well done Chelsea.
