Entertainment Hub: Wrest Point Hotel & Casino

The Wrest Point Hotel & Casino is located on the waterfront in Sandy Bay, a short drive (or taxi ride) south from the Hobart CBD. Wrest Point is a hot spot for entertainment and fine dining, featuring stunning river and mountain views and offering genuine Tasmanian hospitality.

Rock out at a concert, celebrate a special occasion in style, catch up with friends over cocktails, or cheer on your team over a cold beer.

Entertainment

Wrest Point is a Hobart icon and vibrant hub of entertainment, regularly hosting big international and Australian musicians, comedians, and other talented performers. There’s something special about gathering outside on the waterfront lawns and experiencing a live concert echoing across the bay.

As well as ticketed shows, Wrest Point also put on regular free gigs. Stop by the Level One Lounge Bar for post show entertainment or catch live performances at the quirky Birdcage Bar every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Check out the list of upcoming shows, free gigs, and sports events at Wrest Point.

Eat & Drink

You won’t go hungry at Wrest Point, with dining options ranging from premium to casual. Celebrate life’s special moments in style or meet your mates for a casual catch up.

Restaurants

Tasmanian produce is known for its high quality. The menus designed by Wrest Point’s Executive Chef Andre Kropp and his team celebrate this with a focus on seasonality and simplicity.

  • The Point Revolving Restaurant, at the top of the Tower, is the place to celebrate a special occasion. Indulge in the French-inspired menu as the whole restaurant gently rotates, showing off panoramic views of the city, river and mountain.
  • The Boardwalk Bistro is family and budget friendly, catering for a range of dietary requirements. The boardwalk deck extends over the River Derwent, so you can satisfy your pizza, burger, or parmy craving whilst taking in the water views.
  • Enjoy a barista-made coffee and snack in the spacious, light-filled atrium of the Boardwalk Cafe.
  • Devour traditional Chinese shared banquets with friends and family at the Kwan Ho Restaurant, a partnership between the esteemed Me Wah Restaurant and Wrest Point.
  • The Wrest Point Buffet and Coffee Shop has something for everyone, including a daily changing soup, an Asian section, premium buffet dishes and salads, a carvery of two roasts, and a decadent dessert section.
  • Cosy in your room? Hotel guests can order a main meal, light meal or snack off the In-Room Dining menu at any time of the day or night.

Bars

Sip wine on the deck in the sun, cheer on your team with mates and a beer, or celebrate a special occasion over cocktails.
