2025 Huon Valley Studio Art Trail

Huon Valley Studio Art Trail 2025 – Three Days of Art, Stories, and Valley Magic.

If spring in the Huon Valley wasn’t colourful enough already, October is about to turn the vibrancy dial right up. The Huon Valley Studio Art Trail is back for 2025, running Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October — three full days to explore, meet the makers, and fall a little bit in love with this creative corner of Southern Tasmania.

This isn’t your average gallery crawl. The trail is a self-guided adventure stretching from Southport and Dover in the Far South, through Geeveston, Cygnet, Franklin, Huonville, and right up to Grove. Along the way you’ll find open studios, pop-up spaces, galleries, museums, and unexpected creative hideaways. One moment you might be watching a jeweller at the bench, the next you’re chatting to a ceramicist about the glaze they just pulled from the kiln.

Why the Huon Valley Studio Art Trail is Worth the Trip

  • Meet the artists where they create – Step into their studios, smell the paint, see the wood shavings, and hear the stories behind each piece.

  • Explore the whole valley – The trail winds through apple orchards, beside the Huon River, and along country roads framed by rolling hills and forest.

  • New faces, fresh work – Each year brings new artists and makers to discover alongside familiar favourites.

  • Eat, drink, stay, play – Local cafés, cider houses, wineries, and farm gates make the perfect pit stops. Stay for the whole three days and really settle into the pace of the valley.

More Than Just Art

The Huon Valley and Far South are as much a part of the experience as the art itself. Between studio visits, you could be wandering along a riverbank, taking the long way round through coastal roads, or finding yourself in a heritage town with a bakery that makes pies worth writing home about.

Pair the trail with a long lunch overlooking the Huon River, sip a glass of something local at a vineyard, or unwind by the fire at one of the region’s cosy accommodations.

October is peak spring in the Huon Valley, so expect green hills, orchard blossoms, and a fair chance of a four-seasons-in-one-day weather show.
