Hadley’s Art Prize
23 July – 21 August 2022
Open daily from 10am – 4pm, the Hadley’s Art Prize showcases the best of the best in contemporary landscape art. It’s free to enter and wander through the exhibit, and you can observe the finalists before the winner of the $100,000 prize is announced. There is also a full program of activities for kids and adults throughout the month to take part in.
Beaker Street Festival
5 – 14 August 2022
The celebration of science and art is back in full swing for 2022. With a great mix of free and paid activities for all to enjoy, the ten-day program features everything from scientists, innovative artworks and compelling ideas.
Tasmanian Whisky Week
8 – 14 August 2022
Tasmanian Whisky Week gives whisky lovers a week to gather and share their passion with people from around the globe. A true celebration of local Tassie distillers and their incredible achievements, the festivities are spread across 30 distilleries and more than 15 events.

Winter Light 2022
11 – 21 August 2022
Presented by the Salamanca Arts Centre, Winter Light 2022 is an festival to celebrate the end of winter darkness and the coming light. Utopia Now! Is the centrepiece of the program and will see artists collaborate with young people to create art in response to the questions of ‘What is their vision of a utopian future?’ and ‘What are they doing now to make it happen?’.

Australian Antarctic Festival 2022
24 – 28 August 2022
This one of a kind event brings the Antarctic right to the waterfront of Hobart. It’s a true celebration of science, discovery and the rich connection Hobart shares with the polar region as a major gateway city to the Antarctic. This year’s program is filled with entertaining and educational events ranging from academia to comedy and quiz nights.
