Hobart and Beyond Events Guide

Every Sunday in July, the Rose Garden Café at Woolmers Estate is putting Tasmanian winter produce at the centre of the table for Christmas in July. A crackle of conversation, the smell of slow-roasted lamb, glasses filling with the steamy spiced aroma of cinnamon mulled wine, a proper Christmas feast awaits at the Rose Garden Café.
Set within the grounds of Woolmers Estate, a UNESCO World Heritage Site established in 1817, the event runs across two sittings each Sunday.
Guests start with a turkey, cranberry and pistachio terrine with house-made pickles and toasted sourdough, or a caramelised onion and pear tart with whipped fetta, before the menu moves to Brickendon rolled lamb with parmesan herb stuffing and rustic roasted winter vegetables, finished with a classic baby plum pudding and brandy custard (a vegetarian platter is also available).
Three-course guests are welcomed with a glass of mulled wine on arrival, with mulled wine also available to add for two-course guests.
A children’s menu is available, featuring a mini lamb roast, mini ham and cheese pizza, and ice cream.
Bookings are essential.
