Folklore, fantastical creatures, cautionary tales and philosophical fables.

Faced with a world seemingly paralysed by inaction, young dancers enter an immersive world mirroring our realities, populated by otherworldly creatures.

This fantastical environment gives young dancers the cover to explore their generation’s most pressing issues. Each short vignette is an opportunity for the performers of Deep Dark Tales to explore climate grief, isolation, division and hope.

DRILL is Nipaluna/Hobart’s youth dance company, with a mission to make work by and for young people. Every project nurtures their perspectives, opinions, artistic expression and agency to make real change, through movement and action.

Using allegory, the young cast hope to provoke problem solving and fresh approaches to the crises their generation may soon inherit.
