In 2009 Farmy began with an honest and simple philosophy: if you couldn’t eat it, drink it, grow it, or meet the producer, then you wouldn’t find it at Farmy.
That ethos has always held true. Now, that little carpark farmers’ market that began with just 12 producers now hosts a street-side seasonal cast of over 200, and has grown into an essential Sunday ritual for locals.
We’re also acknowledged as one of the top five farmers’ markets in the country.
Tasmania’s distinct growing seasons make for an ever-changing array of cool climate produce – that’s what we celebrate every Sunday.
Staying true to what’s in season locally is reflected throughout the market on fresh produce stalls, in artisan foods and on street food vendors menus.
Nestled in a groovy alcove in the middle of Farmy you’ll find the Grub Hub.
This is where it’s at on Sunday in Hobart for breakfast, a cheeky brunch or lazy lunch, with all the hustle, bustle and smells of a street food market.
Each Sunday you’ll find ten rotating street food vendors dishing up international cuisines with a local twist.
See you Sunday.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
