Heritage & Bullock Festival 2022

Join us for the Heritage & Bullock Festival on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of August 2022, set in the character-filled, historic village of Oatlands.
A free, two day festival of forgotten skills, heritage trades & artisan wares that celebrates all traditional & heritage activities.
Enjoy a sense of stepping back in time as you wander through the village as it comes alive with a daily street parade featuring a bullock team, pack horses, steam engines & heritage vehicles. Join in the fun & wear your traditional costumes if you have them, plenty of people will be dressed for the occasion, including the Town Crier.
Wander through historic buildings to see artisans at work. See the skilled chair maker, woodworker, leatherworkers, jade carving, spinners, weavers, artists & more. Warm yourself around the firepots in Callington Park and see the heritage machinery displays, Skill at Arms Display, horsemanship skills, wood chopping, bullock team working, fly fishing, rope making & steam bending demonstrations by The Wooden Boat Centre. Or sample the delights from the visiting brewers, winery, providore & local food producers or settle in beside one of the many cosy fireplaces of the local restaurants & cafes.

We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement.

As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
