The Huon Art Awards is a celebrated annual art competition and exhibition showcasing local talent since 2002. Open to artists of all ages and skill levels, this event is one of Southern Tasmania’s longest-running art showcases, fostering creativity and community through a diverse display of artistic mediums.
The exhibition features works in oil, acrylic, watercolour, printmaking, drawing, 3D, photography, mixed media, woodwork, and ceramics. It highlights local and Tasmanian artists and students, offering a unique opportunity to admire and purchase art directly from the creators.
The 2025 exhibition runs from Saturday 8th March to Sunday 23rd March, open daily from 10am to 4pm, at the historic Cygnet Town Hall. The event opens with a celebration and awards presentation on Friday 7th March 2025.
Located in the beautiful Huon Valley, the exhibition is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes and vibrant local culture. Visitors can enjoy not only the art but also the region’s renowned produce, wines, cider, welcoming communities, waterways and stunning scenery, making it perfect for art lovers and explorers alike.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
