Roving Scientist Bar – Beaker Street Festival 2026

At the Hope and Anchor, Australia's oldest continuously licensed pub, they're putting a scientist at every table, and inviting you in for a chat.

14 - 16 August 2026

They’re taking over the Hope and Anchor, Australia’s oldest continuously licensed pub, putting a scientist at every table, and inviting you in for the least-boring bar chats you’ve ever had.

Also, probably some of the weirdest… they’ve got experts on everything from dung beetles to exoplanets (Pluto is real!). There will be games, microscopes, specimens, live music, prizes to win, delicious things to drink and eat, and just so many scientists to talk to. It’s like speed dating, except nerdier and less susceptible to being overtaken by an app.

Stay tuned for more details, including family-friendly and new sensory-friendly sessions!
