The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Fest brought pagan-style fun, fire, feasting and a whole lot of noise to Willie Smith’s Apple Shed over the weekend! The costumes were stellar, with people bouncing around in flower crowns, helmet horns, fur, sticks and leaves, as well as painted faces and lanterns to light the way. Tantalising aromas wafted out from the stalls, with mouthwatering local food and drink on offer. Poor Willie was sacrificed, going up in mesmerising flames to the delight of the chanting crowd (burn, Willie, burn!) With all the enthusiastic wassailing, we reckon this year’s crop is bound to be a goodie.
We’ve picked out some of our favourite photos from the festival shared with #hobartandbeyond on Instagram. Check out all of the photos revellers shared under #hvmwf17.
