Black Cockatoos’ Rest is a great base camp from which to explore this beautiful region of Tasmania. Locally, take a short walk into historic Franklin where you can enjoy a picnic on the foreshore, kids’ playground, and even pull out the fishing rod to see what you might catch.

Franklin has cafes, restaurants, and pubs to enjoy a nice cuppa or a good meal if you don’t want to cook at the end of the day. Thirty minutes south, you can enjoy Tahune Airwalk, a fantastic day trip. Another 40 minutes south, you can enjoy the beauty of Dover, then travel to Hastings Caves and the thermal pool.
