Overeem Distillery is one of the founding Distilleries in the Country, producing premium Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky.
Tasmanian whisky pioneer Casey Overeem founded Tasmania’s fourth distillery in 2007. His first distilling experience in Norway in the 1980s sparked his ambitious quest to create a whisky that ‘would proudly stand alongside the best whiskies in the world’. From long fermentation times to gentle maturations, Casey’s dedication to quality never faltered.
Today, Casey’s daughter Jane and her husband Mark continue his legacy, with a small team of passionate industry professionals working alongside them. They remain true to Casey’s original ambition while growing the brands popularity and international recognition.
Overeem Distillery is open for daily tours by appointment only, making the visits a unique, hands-on and very personal experience. Guests learn about the production and maturation of Single Malt Whisky, enjoy many whisky tastings, have the opportunity to bottle their own whisky and shop from the cellar door.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
