Established in 1990, we are a boutique family-owned and operated company that is Tasmania’s first and only certified biodynamic vineyard and focused entirely upon producing small quantities of naturally handcrafted wines from grape to glass in the state’s cool maritime climate.
The vineyard, winery, Osteria and distillery site overlooks the picturesque River Derwent estuary. Join us at our cellar door and Osteria for a taste of the wines and some great rustic Italian food.
An Osteria can be described as a small ‘farmhouse’ style eatery in Italy. Often they don’t have a menu and the dishes are created with what is local and in season. In our Osteria, the menu is fresh, seasonal, inspired by regional Italian cuisine and based around what comes out of our biodynamically run vegetable garden. We harvest honey from our bees, pickle and preserve our produce and make all our own bread from organic flours in the wood-fired oven. We use ethically raised free-range meats from local farmers and wild-caught seafood from the pristine waters of Tasmania. Even the coffee beans and milk are certified organic and biodynamic! Our menu changes weekly and bookings are advised.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
