The small town of Westerway is on the Tyenna River near Mount Field National Park and is a great place to stop before travelling on to the park or farther to Lake Pedder or Strathgordon.
The Possum Shed Restaurant in Westerway sits right on the bank of the river and there’s a good chance you’ll spot a platypus while enjoying a great coffee or lunch. Accommodation is available at B&Bs, government huts inside the national park and at the caravan park.
Westerway is a 1-hour drive (65 km) north of Hobart, via New Norfolk.
