The Coal River Valley is just a short 25-minute drive northeast of Hobart city. Take the Tasman Highway (A3) heading towards the airport, and follow the signs for Richmond. This scenic route takes you past rolling hills and vineyards, delivering you directly to the heart of the valley. If you prefer public transport, buses run from Hobart to Richmond, making it an easy day trip option.

Located only 15 minutes from Hobart Airport, the Coal River Valley is a perfect first stop on your Tasmanian journey. Head west (towards Hobart) on the Tasman Highway (A3) and take the Richmond turnoff. The drive is quick and straightforward, allowing you to start exploring the valley’s wineries and historic sites in no time.
