Beaker Street’s overarching purpose is to build community through scientific understanding. Underpinning that purpose are three pillars: fostering social cohesion through belonging and sharing; discovery through diversity; and sustaining our future. All projects and programs under the Beaker Street brand are geared towards these outcomes, so just by participating in Beaker Street activities, you are doing good!

Beaker Street is a cultural organisation that was founded in 2017 with the aim of bringing science closer to the general public while strengthening community cohesion. Its flagship project is Beaker Street Festival, held every August in Hobart, but Beaker Street also offers seasonal field trips, retreats, school programs and artistic projects that invite participants to explore, interact and experience science in a different way.
How you can help
Aside from simply participating, you can support Beaker Street by paying it forward (contributing to tickets that go to people who are going through hardship and can’t cover a festival ticket themselves), donating (it is now a registered charity recipient) and/or becoming a festival volunteer. They are also always looking for scientific minds to join the Roving Scientists Program too; there are ways to reach out via the Beaker Street website.
