HOT LIST – Autumn Events in Southern Tasmania 2026

Autumn in Southern Tasmania doesn’t ease in quietly. It arrives with colour in the vineyards, woodsmoke in the air, and a calendar that fills up fast.

From cricket under crisp blue skies to long-table feasts, highland gatherings, art exhibitions, trail runs, seafood on the waterfront and live music in the park, this is the season where locals come out to play — and visitors quickly realise they’ve timed it well.

March, April and May are prime time across Greater Hobart, the Huon Valley, Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley, the Tasman Peninsula, Central Highlands and beyond. It’s harvest season. Festival season. Road trip season. The kind of season where you plan one event and somehow end up staying for three.

Whether you’re here for the Women’s ODI Series vs India – 3rd ODI, grazing your way through FLAMIN’ – Tassie’s Barbecue Festival, wandering the Tasman Art & Craft Exhibition, or heading south for Dover Seafest, autumn 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest yet.

You’ll find food and wine front and centre at Tasmania’s Seafood Festival and A Taste of The Huon. Community spirit on full display at the Oatlands Highland Gathering and Heartlands Autumn Harvest Festival. Big energy moments at Bass In The Domain 2026. Creative depth at the Huon Art Awards 2026. And for those who prefer to earn their view, there’s the Kunanyi Mountain Run and Tour de Cure’s Signature Tour ’26.
