The 2026 Paint the Town Red Photography Competition (hereinafter referred to as “the Competition”) is organised and run by Destination Southern Tasmania (hereinafter referred to as “the Organiser”).
By entering the Competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
a. The Competition is open to all individuals aged 18 years or older, except employees of the Organiser and their immediate families.
b. Participants must have a valid Instagram account that is publicly visible.
c. To be eligible for a prize, participants must register on the Hobart and Beyond website. This ensures we can contact finalists and winners.
a. Participants must photograph participating businesses, public spaces, and/or Dark Mofo events located in Tasmania between 8th and 22nd June 2026.
b. Entries must be shared on Instagram using the hashtag #pttr26 and @hobartandbeyond.
c. Posts must include the location for verification purposes.
d. Only posts with the designated hashtag will be considered valid entries.
e. Participants must register on the Hobart and Beyond website to be eligible for prizes.
a. By entering and using the hashtag #pttr26, participants grant permission to Destination Southern Tasmania and Hobart and Beyond to share, reproduce, and display the submitted content on their websites, social media platforms, and promotional materials.
b. Participants understand that the Organiser and associated parties may use their content without compensation or notice.
a. Finalists will be selected by Destination Southern Tasmania staff and/or board members based on quality, creativity, and adherence to the Competition theme after the event closes.
b. Only registered participants will be eligible for finalist selection and prizes.
c. The finalist images will proceed to a vote in late June 2026, where Destination Southern Tasmania staff and invited Destination Southern Tasmania Board Members will determine the winners.
d. Winning entries and finalists will be announced on the Hobart and Beyond website and social media channels.
e. The Organiser’s decision regarding finalists, winners, and any disputes shall be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
a. Prize details will be listed on the Hobart and Beyond website (https://hobartandbeyond.com.au/blog/paint-the-town-red/).
b. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash.
c. Prize providers may have additional time limits or restrictions, which will be communicated to winners.
a. The Organiser and its affiliates shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury incurred by participants due to their participation in the Competition or acceptance of prizes.
b. Participants agree to indemnify and hold the Organiser and prize providers harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from participation.
a. Personal information collected from participants will be used solely for administering the Competition and notifications, and handled in accordance with the Organiser’s Privacy Policy.
b. By registering, participants agree to be contacted by the Organiser regarding the Competition.
a. Participants retain the copyright to their photographs but grant the Organiser a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, and display the photographs in connection with the Competition and its promotion.
b. The Organiser reserves the right to use winning photographs, participants’ names, and any associated images or videos for promotional purposes, including social media, website, and marketing materials, without additional compensation or notification.
a. The Organiser reserves the right to amend, modify, or cancel the Competition or these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on the Organiser’s website or communicated through appropriate channels.
a. Entries must be original photographs captured by the entrant using a camera or mobile device between the 8th and 22nd June 2026.
b. Images that are fully or partially generated, constructed, or composited using artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including but not limited to image generators, or AI-created backgrounds, will be disqualified.
c. Basic image enhancements are permitted using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or equivalent, provided the final image remains a truthful and accurate representation of the location and scene as it appeared in Southern Tasmania.
d. Acceptable adjustments include brightness, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, colour saturation, white balance, tone, sharpening, de-noise, lens correction, cropping, and straightening.
e. The following are not permitted and may result in disqualification: adding, removing, or significantly altering elements within the scene (e.g. adding foliage, or swapping skies); compositing multiple images together; or any manipulation that misrepresents the location or creates a false impression of Southern Tasmania.
f. DST reserves the right to request the original unedited file (RAW or JPEG) from any entrant to verify authenticity, and to disqualify entries that do not comply with these guidelines.
By entering the 2026 Paint the Town Red Photography Competition, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
