Grass Point

Grass Point is a walk in South Bruny National Park.

1.5 hours return, 4km return. Grade 2.

Located within South Bruny National Park, the walk to Grass Point is an easy track which offers spectacular coastal views and a peek at the ruins of an old whaling station. Suitable for family groups and less experienced walkers, the walk begins in beautiful Adventure Bay. Start by walking along the short beach next to the car park, before turning left onto the well-formed track.

Follow the track, which remains fairly flat, along the coastline. There is open grassland on either side, and when you reach Grass Point there are visible remains of structures associated with the old whaling industry. A little further on is a gulch between Grass Point and Penguin Island.

During migration time (heading north from June to September, and south from September to late October) southern right whales can be spotted along this section of the coast. Return to Adventure Bay by the same track. Please follow the circuit in an in an anticlockwise direction.

Please refer to the Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania website (parks.tas.gov.au) for up-to-date information about this walk, alerts, closures, safe walking guidelines, leave no trace principles and National Park entry fees where applicable.
