This is a hosted stay through Hipcamp, below is the information provided by the Host regarding their offering.
No bells and whistles here, just a really great spot to base yourself to explore the Port Arthur area. The property is a vacant block in the town of Taranna and is very close to many great attractions of this region. The property is fenced in with a gate and offers a basic, flat grassed camping area. A fire pit is available for campers to enjoy in the evenings after a day of exploring the region.
Campers are required to be self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. It is a 300 m walk to the public toilets from the property. The Taranna boat ramp is just down the road along with some great fishing spots.
The Port Arthur historic site is a 20-minute drive away and Pirates Bay is a 10-minute drive where you can access scenic cruises and fishing charters. There are plenty of stunning lookouts, walking trails and scenic drives in the area to explore.
Pets are welcome but please leave no waste when you leave the property.
We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a destination that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors, Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
