As the winter months set in, nipaluna / Hobart and southern Tasmania are getting ready to celebrate with Dark Mofo Presents Winter 2024 and Paint the Town Red.Â
Businesses, shops, and public spaces around southern Tasmania are getting involved by lighting up red! You’ll see red everywhere, vibrant red lighting, red drinks, red decorations and more.Â
Take photos, share them on Instagram, tag them with #pttr24 to enter our Photographic Competition for your chance to win prizes.

It’s pretty easy, actually. Between Monday, June 10th, and Sunday, June 30th, 2024, take loads of photos of participating businesses (see the growing list below), public spaces lit red, and/or Dark Mofo Presents Winter 2024 events. Share them all on your professional Instagram account (private ones can’t be seen) using the hashtag #pttr24, and just for good measure, tag @hobartandbeyond. Boom, your in the comp! The 2024 Paint The Town Red Photographic Competition (hereinafter referred to as “the Competition”) is organized and run by Destination Southern Tasmania (hereinafter referred to as “the Organizer”).
By entering the Competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Eligibility: a. The Competition is open to all individuals aged 18 years or older, except employees of the Organizer and their immediate families. b. Participants must have a valid Instagram account.
How to Enter: a. To enter the Competition, participants must photograph participating businesses, public spaces, and/or Dark Mofo Presents Winter 2024 events located in Southern Tasmania. b. Participants must share their photographs on Instagram using the hashtag #pttr24. c. Only posts that include the designated hashtag will be considered valid entries.
Content Usage: a. By using the hashtag #pttr24, participants grant permission to the Organiser, Destination Southern Tasmania, and Hobart and Beyond to share, reproduce, and display the submitted content on their respective websites, social media platforms, and promotional materials. b. Participants understand that their content may be used by the Organiser and associated parties without any compensation or notice.
Selection of Winners: a. Finalists will be selected by Destination Southern Tasmania staff based on the quality, creativity, and adherence to the Competition theme. b. The finalist images will then proceed to a public vote, where the public will determine the ultimate winner/s. DST staff will select the winner of the DST Award. c. The decision of the Organiser regarding the selection of winners and any disputes arising from the Competition shall be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prizes: a. The prizes for the Competition will be listed on the Hobart and Beyond website (https://hobartandbeyond.com.au/blog/paint-the-town-red/). b. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash. c. Individual prize providers may have additional time limits or restrictions associated with the prizes, which will be communicated to the winners.
Liability: a. The Organiser and its affiliates shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury incurred by participants due to their participation in the Competition or acceptance of the prizes. b. Participants agree to indemnify and hold the Organiser harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from participating in the Competition.
Personal Information: a. Personal information collected from participants during the Competition will be used solely to administer it and will be handled in accordance with the Organiser’s Privacy Policy.
The Organiser reserves the right to use the winning photographs, participants’ names, and any associated images or videos for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, website, and marketing materials, without additional compensation or notification.
Participants retain the copyright to their photographs but grant the Organiser a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display the photographs in connection with the Competition and its promotion.
Amendments: a. The Organiser reserves the right to amend, modify, or cancel the Competition or these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on the Organiser’s website or communicated through appropriate channels.
