Are you eager to impress your beloved with a special outing for two? There are lots of romantic things to do in Tasmania’s Midlands! We’ve listed some fun date ideas along the Heritage Highway to help you woo your sweetheart (or keep the romance alive).
1. Go for a stroll down Lovers Lane at Ross, sit on the love seat and admire the view of the river and convict-built bridge (on the town side near the Caravan Park).
2. Experience a romantic hot air balloon ride over the Northern Midlands (and maybe even pop the question) with Hot Air Balloon Tasmania.
3. Enjoy a sweet treat with your sweetheart at the local bakeries, including Ingleside Bakery Cafe and Rustic Bakehouse Cressy.
4. Wander the National Rose Garden at Woolmers Estate and the heritage gardens at neighbouring Brickendon Estate.

10. Relax with Sunday live music in the beer garden at the Clarendon Arms, Evandale.
11. Book yourself on a tour and gin tasting at the enchanting 200-year-old Shene Estate & Distillery (or swing by their roadside stall on Sundays).
12. Whisky lovers, tour the Old Kempton Distillery and indulge in yummy Tasmanian produce at their Dysart House cellar door.
13. Stroll the local markets, buy your date some flowers, and pick up some farm fresh produce to create a culinary masterpiece for dinner.
14. Embark upon a bonding adventure in the epic Ben Lomond National Park (we recommend hiking in the warmer months and skiing during ski season).
15. Sip award-winning vino and indulge in delicious Tasmanian cuisine at the local wineries; particularly the Relbia wine region in the north and around Campania in the south.
16. Visit the local art galleries and studios and choose a special keepsake together.
17. Find some gems and let your imaginations run wild in the local antique stores.
18. Hire a vintage bike from Dinki Bike Hire and peddle your way around the heritage village of Ross (tip: take advantage of their picnic hamper package).
19. Take tea at The Tiers Tea Lounge, Poatina (the space is shared with The Poatina Tree Art Gallery).
20. Hello, you. Browse a plethora of books in an old convict-built cellar at The Book Cellar, Campbell Town.
21. Show your date you’re sweet on them at The Tasmanian Honey Company, Perth.
22. Don your sexiest collared shirt, vest and hat for a round on the Poatina Golf Course.
23. Spend some quality time together camping at peaceful Lake Leake.
24. Find your very own cave at the Chauncy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary.
25. Go stargazing—the night sky is so much clearer away from bright city lights! If you are extremely lucky, you might even witness the unpredictable, ethereal Aurora Australis.
