Coal River Valley

Discover the Coal River Valley, Tasmania

Originally serving as one of Australia’s first food bowls,  today the Coal River Valley is home to a trail of some of Tasmania’s finest vineyards and cellar doors. Arguably some of the best Sparkling, Pinot Noir and whisky to be found anywhere in the world can be found in the Coal River Valley – yes, even rivalling France and Scotland!

The beautiful Coal River Valley is a region known for its history, exceptional wines and the picture-perfect town of Richmond.

Discover Picturesque Richmond

Richmond, in the centre of the Coal River Valley, is a picture-perfect town and home to Australia’s oldest bridge and Gaol, built by convict labour between 1823 and 1825. It’s also home to Australia’s oldest remaining Catholic Church, St Johns, built-in 1836.

To get the most out of Richmond, try wandering its streets. The town has attracted artists and craftspeople for generations, you’ll find their work in the town’s galleries and cafes.

Zoodoo Zoo
